Let’s Celebrate World Fair Trade Day!
May 2, 2007 by Michelle ~ Reflection Of Light
Ourlando is celebrating the 2nd Annual World Fair Trade Day on Saturday, May 12. This fun event will be hosted by the coolest vegetarian place in town. Who? Dandelion Communitea Café. The event is from 12 noon to sundown and will feature live bands, vegan and organic vendors, as well as Fair Trade food and crafts. Did I mention it was FREE?
The day will focus on bringing awareness to conscientious consumerism, reminding us that our decisions affect our community and the world. When we buy products that are Fair Trade Certified we are ensuring that its producer is fairly compensated for his/her goods, has access to a safe, clean working environment, and much more. This in turn allows the producers to support their families, communities, and the environment. To learn more about Fair Trade principles please check out The Fair Trade for a Greater Orlando Coalition.
In the meantime…I’ll see you at Dandelion on May 12!
